프레드의 세 딸 클라라, 빅투와르 그리고 로미는 각각 프레드의 전처들 사이에서 나온 딸들이다. 플레드는 주말마다 전처들을 대신하여 세 딸을 돌본다. 와중에 프레드는 아동 심리학 박사 과정에 있는 캐나다인 에마와 사랑에 빠지게 되며, 이에 더해 새로운 계모가 이 행복한 삶에 개입하게 되는데.....
